EIA raises 2016 and 2017 ethanol production and consumption estimates

April 18, 2016 |

In Washington, the Energy Information Agency has boosted its estimates for average ethanol production during 2016 and 2017 to 970,000 and 980,000 barrels per day, up from 966,000 barrels per day last year. That’s a jump from its March estimate that saw ethanol production holding pretty steady to 2015 levels. Rather than consumption falling well below production at 910,000 barrels per day leading to the need for increased exports, EIA currently estimates consumption to run about even with its new higher production estimates.
