California’s emissions downshift driven overwhelmingly by renewable fuels: report

In Washington, the Renewable Fuels Association has released an analysis of data recently released by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) regarding California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), highlighting ethanol as a significant factor in the reduction of CA’s greenhouse gas emissions. The RFA analysis shows that the majority of carbon credits approved have been for ethanol, with all biofuels combined earning 87% of all CA carbon credits. This compares to only 4% from electric cars, further emphasizing the necessity of biofuels—especially ethanol—in California’s clean energy future. Just last week, Aemetis was approved for 70 credits, clearing the way for increased ethanol profitability.
