US ethanol maintenance season over as plants ramp back up

In Illinois, Platts says that the US ethanol plant maintenance season has come to end, signaling a ramping back up of production ahead of the summer driving months. The Energy Information Administration reported production jumped last week to 962,000 b/d, up 39,000 b/d on the week. Stocks fell last week to 21.252 million barrels, down 949,000 barrels from the week prior and the biggest fall in stocks since maintenance season in 2013. Platts reports observers expected production to only hit 945,000 b/d but the additional volumes didn’t weigh on prices.
