In the UK, CropEnergies is looking to do a trial test run at the Ensus ethanol plant no later than July in an effort to see if it can bring the plant back online after being mothballed in February 2015. In the meantime, the company has invested in upgrades to boost production and energy efficiency which should help the plant compete in the challenging European market. The company has called on EU member states and the UK in particular to continue boosting their biofuel blending mandates in line with the Renewable Energy Directive to ensure demand for the fuel it produces.
