Nigeria’s Cross River to get $2.5 million cassava ethanol plant

May 26, 2016 |

In Nigeria, the Cross River government is supporting the development of a $2.5 million cassava ethanol plant in the state in collaboration with the Partnership Initiative for the Niger Delta (PIND) Foundation but it is unclear the government’s role or who the private sector partner is for the project. The state is the country’s largest cassava producer. The governor said during the project announcement that Wilmar had recently invested in a 50,000 ha oil palm plantation as well. The foundation was developed by Chevron to develop the Niger Delta region.
