Brazilian biodiesel production down 6% on year while ethanol soars

May 31, 2016 |

In Brazil, biodiesel production hit 301,000 cubic meters in April, bringing the total for the year to 1.19 million cubic meters, down 6% on the year. That is despite having an installed production capacity of 7.24 million cu m. Ethanol production, on the other hand, jumped nearly 60% on the year to 2.89 billion liters, of which 1.9 billion liters was hydrous. Brazil’s sugarcane crush began early this year in mid-March rather than April allowing production to ramp up quickly.
