European Commissioner for Energy Union says another look needs to be taken at biofuels

June 1, 2016 |

In Belgium, the European Commission Vice-President for the Energy Union says that the EU needs to take another look at biofuels and figure out what role second generation biofuels can play while phasing out first generation biofuels. The Commission is currently negotiating with member states the carbon emissions reductions each will have to take on to achieve the COP21 goals while it is developing a legislative package on low-carbon mobility. Transport, agriculture and buildings are the three main areas not regulated by the Emissions Trading System so must be dealt with separately.
