ePURE launches Policy Roadmap for decarbonizing transport to 2030

June 18, 2016 |

In the EU, ePURE launched its Policy Roadmap for decarbonizing transport to 2030. Ahead of the European Commission’s publication of a Communication to decarbonize transport post- 2020, epure said that the Commission should propose clear, consistent and binding measures that increase the climate performance of transport fuels. Incentives for the deployment of sustainable low carbon fuels are essential if Europe is to meet its 2030 climate goals. ePURE’s Roadmap to 2030 contains clear and practical recommendations for policy makers in this regard.

“Decarbonizing transport is fundamental if Europe is to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. The Commission has to propose binding policy measures to decarbonize transport fuels, otherwise both the use of oil and carbon emissions in transport will only increase. The contribution of low carbon transport fuels, such as European ethanol – with its over 60% GHG savings, is necessary and must be fully promoted,” said Robert Wright, Secretary-General of the European renewable ethanol association (ePURE).
