In California, the US biodiesel industry continues to be drowned out by steadily growing imports from Singapore, Argentina and South Korea despite a huge soy crop that has feedstock low enough to make production competitive and bring back the 1.5 billion gallons of installed capacity that have been idled. Last year, 31% of the 1.73 billion gallons of biodiesel mandated by the Renewable Fuel Standard were imported. The country has 3 billion gallons of installed capacity.
