US ethanol import demand helping to temper falling prices

In Texas, potential import demand from over the last two weeks helped to support ethanol prices towards the end of last week, tempering losses brought about by sinking corn prices. The steadier ethanol prices are in contrast with lower corn prices, helping to improve margins for exporting producers. Chicago Argo ethanol prices reached an 18-month high in mid-June that tempered US ethanol exports but that trend could begin to reverse as buyers look to shore up stocks.
