July 5, 2016 |

In Indonesia, Asia Pulp and Paper is leading a project to develop biofuel from local oilseed tree Kemiri Sunan that can produce 10 metric tons per oil per hectare, in addition to biogas and fertilizer from the seed cake. The trees will be grown through smallholder farmer co-operatives with biodiesel destined for both the domestic market as well as potential exports to Europe. In 2013, the company made a pledge to end deforestation of natural forests.
