USDA sees India far from ethanol blending goals at just 2% by 2017

July 5, 2016 |

In India, the USDA believes the country will only manage to blend 2% ethanol in 2017, up only slightly from the 1.9% it expects will be blended this year, a far cry from the country’s blending mandate of 10%. As of mid-May, the Foreign Agriculture Service says 509,000 cu m of ethanol had been lifted by oil marketing companies, a figure it expects to rise to 600,000 cu m by year’s end. Next year it estimates 700,000 cu m will be lifted.
