Indonesia power giant says B30 a no go but government doesn’t buy it

July 11, 2016 |

In Indonesia, state-owned Perusahaan Listrik Negara says complying with the B30 mandate for power production would damage the company’s power generation equipment because after a while residues from the fuel will clog the systems. The company’s head of fuel procurement says a B20 blend would be safer and not lead to power outages. The government’s New and Renewable Energy directorate doesn’t buy the argument, however, saying that if the fuel is fine for vehicles then it should be fine for power generation and will investigate further.
