European feed industry worried about supplies if market switches purely to second-gen

In Belgium, the European feed industry is concerned that a move away from first generation biofuels post-2020 and a complete focus on advanced biofuels will have negative impacts on feed availability. Most of the EU’s animal feed produced in Europe comes from rapeseed meal. Imports are limited to the EU’s de facto ban on many GMOs, making it more expensive to source and a higher chance of trade challenges to ensure the GMO limits allowed.
