Ethanol production falls back below 1 million barrels per day

July 28, 2016 |

In Washington, the Energy Information Agency said ethanol production has fallen back after record-breaking figures throughout the year, falling below 1 million barrels per day to 998,000 b/d, down 31,000 on the week. Platts estimates that as a result, corn consumption was 3% lower at 104.790 million bushels. Despite the lower production, cumulative corn usage for the crop year is still higher than the USDA’s 5.225 billion-bushel projection for the year. Estimates are based on 2.8 gallons of ethanol per bushel.
