Biodiesel consumption picking up in India following deregulation

August 1, 2016 |

In India, following the liberalization of biodiesel sales last year, supply has soared. A B5 policy was in place since 2005 but prices offered by oil marketing companies weren’t attractive enough for producers, but now since the policy shift in August 2015, sales jumped to 13.2 million liters. Another 40 million liters have been contracted for the period between April and September. Other support mechanisms for biodiesel have been brought into place including standards for B100 and B6-B20.
