Albertsons Companies commits to use of UCO from stores for transport

In California, Albertsons Companies including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons and Pavilions collected more than 481,000 gallons of used cooking oil from their stores in 2015 that went towards biodiesel production. The company’s biodiesel use has increased over 50 percent in the past five years, a program that has been so successful that it will soon start using the excess biodiesel produced to also fuel the Albertsons store fleet served by their Brea and Irvine Distribution Centers.
