Northeast Brazilian mills upset but influx of ethanol imports during crush

In Brazil, the head of the Pernambuco sugarcane union is saddened and frustrated by oil companies importing ethanol from the US despite the crushing season in the northeast region having already begun. About 85 million liters of have been imported during August with as much or more expected to arrive in September. Goias, Minas Gerais and other states are said to be losing market share to imports in the northeast region. He says the lack of a regional ethanol distribution plan has led to the market opportunity that supporting imports.
