USDA sees Philippine ethanol imports falling thanks to growing production

August 29, 2016 |

In the Philippines, the USDA estimates ethanol production in the country will start to ramp up and in turn demand for imports from the US will fall to 281 million liters in 2016 and 278 million liters in 2017 from the 311 million liters imported in 2015 at a value of $170 million. The Philippines was the US’s third-largest ethanol export destination in 2015. Meeting the B2 mandate domestically has not been a challenge, with the fuel supplied by coconut-oil based biodiesel.
