Florida ethanol railcar derailment appears not to have spilled a drop

September 7, 2016 |

In Florida, ethanol spilled following a train derailment Tuesday afternoon in Port Everglades when nine cars carrying 20,000 gallons of ethanol each came off the tracks. Another 11 cars carrying the same amount of fuel remained on the tracks. No leaks were reported however and the product was said to have remained intact thanks to the cars remaining upright. The fuel was en route to Motiva Enterprises at the port when it derailed. Crews worked through the night to get the cars back on the track.
