US imports of Argentine biodiesel could boost exports 80% in 2016

September 7, 2016 |

In Argentina, biodiesel import demand from the US could see Argentine exports soar 80% on the year to 1.4 million metric tons, helping to counteract a fall in demand from the European Union following anti-dumping tariffs lodged on Argentine biodiesel and the resulting WTO trade dispute. As much as 80% of the country’s biodiesel exports are expected to head to the US this year. A jump in exports was seen during the second quarter after companies spent the first quarter of the year getting their certifications in order to be able to supply the US market.
