Coastal Energy says it can make biodiesel better with enzyme cocktail

September 15, 2016 |

In Maine, Coastal Energy is experimenting with proprietary mixtures of four to five enzymes available commercially to improve efficiencies in biodiesel production from UCO. They say they have achieved to create an enzyme-driven process that can produce biodiesel at low temperatures, reducing energy costs to make it more cost effective. Their current installation can produce about 200,000 gallons per year. The company is also working with SeaChange Group and through them the Maine Maritime Academy to produce marine fuel from processing glycerin.
