BPCL to invest $75 million in 2G ethanol plant in Kochi

September 26, 2016 |

In India, a $75 million second-generation ethanol plant using MSW and agricultural waste as feedstock has been announced for Kochi, where it will be located at the BPCL-Kochi Refinery. The technology provider for the facility was not mentioned during the announcement Friday but Praj has indicated recently that it will be developing several second-generation ethanol plants over the next few years to help supply the government’s planned 22.5% ethanol blending mandate. Key to the increased ethanol production and blending mandate is to reduce fossil fuel imports.
