September 29, 2016 |

In Indiana, Louis Dreyfus opened its new glycerin refinery co-located at its soybean crushing and biodiesel facility in Claypool, becoming the country’s second-largest kosher glycerin factory with a capacity of 80 million pounds per year.  Though the company has been marketing crude glycerin since it began producing biodiesel in 2007, the refinery allows it to produce kosher and halal-certified food grade glycerin but will also supply into other biomaterial markets for beauty care, automobiles and a wide range of other industries.
