October 6, 2016 |

In Europe, on the 27th September, 2016, EuropaBio launched the findings of a new study at the European Parliament as part of European Biotech Week celebrations across Europe. The Chair of EuropaBio’s Industrial Biotech Council and Managing Board member of Royal DSM, Stephen Tanda made a few comments about the report.

He said it is expected for jobs to increase to between 900,000-1.5 million jobs with an accompanying economic contribution of almost €100 billion by 2030. Biorefinery is at the heart of the bioeconomy where industrial biotech converts renewable raw materials into essential, everyday products.

Joanna Dupont-Inglis, EuropaBio’s Industrial Biotech Director who added her voice said the study showed that for every 1 job created in industrial biotech, 4 more jobs are created elsewhere in the economy.
