Florida county makes good on stronger regulations for biofuel producers

October 18, 2016 |

In Florida, in response to Viesel Fuel’s fire last year, Martin County is following through with its commitment to strengthen regulation of biodiesel plants in its jurisdiction by limiting where biofuel producers can locate, requiring certain distances between them and residential areas, and other new rules. The County Commissioners are set to vote on the new rules October 25 and tentatively also December 6 as two votes are required for passage and implementation. A current moratorium on new biofuel plants expires December 23.
