EPA sends 2017 RFS final volume to OMB in hopes of meeting November 30 deadline

October 20, 2016 |

In Washington, the White House’s Office of Management and Budget has received from the Environmental Protection Agency the final volume mandate for the Renewable Fuel Standard in 2017, following the agency’s draft volume mandate released in May, along with the 2018 biodiesel proposal. The May draft volume was for 18.8 billion gallons, higher than expected ethanol production in 2016 but lower than the original legislation anticipated. The EPA plans on meeting its requirement to publish the final volume by November 30 although it has rarely done so.
