In Kenya, the latest ethanol-related scandal was the discovery of two trucks stopped in Mwatate for illegally carrying 45,000 liters of ethanol in 180 drums that were allegedly imported from Tanzania. The drums were hidden under animal skins. One of the drivers was arrested and another three escaped, while afterwards policemen from two sub-counties got into a fight over where the confiscated fuel was to be taken. This is the third ethanol-related scandal in less than two weeks.
