Oshawa Port ethanol project finally dead after four years of fighting

In Canada, four years after receiving permission from Oshawa Port Authority to build an ethanol plant, FarmTech Energy’s project is officially dead. The city’s mayor and city council have fought the project tooth and nail, instead wishing to develop a waterfront area with residential and commercial zones that would have been impossible to do if an ethanol plant was sited nearby. The mayor even went to the national capital to hand deliver 3,600 signatures of local residents protesting the ethanol plant.
