Indian company developing bio-CNG for scooters from molasses and ethanol

In India, Purti Group’s Manas Agro Industries and Infrastructure Limited has developed a method to produce biogas from molasses generated while manufacturing sugar that is then mixed with rectified spirit and ethanol which forms a sludge as feedstock for methane production. The gas is then compressed and will be sold very cheaply to power scooters, power the small vehicles for 65km using just a kg of fuel. The company hopes to set up fueling stations in Nagpur over the next six to nine months.
