In Colorado, on the back of major market breakthroughs such as its first commercial cellulosic ATJ flight and supplying isobutanol in vehicle blends in Houston, Gevo says it is working to get its variable production costs down to between $3 and $3.50 per gallon. That would allow it to sell its isobutanol at no more than $4.50 per gallon. The company produced 145,000 gallons during the third quarter, ramping up from the 240,000 gallons produced through September this year, with an eye on reaching half a million gallons by year’s end and production capacity at 1.5 million gallons.
