Argentina looking at UCO biodiesel but support is tepid

In Argentina, the legislature’s lower house has partially approved a plan by the upper house to promote the use of used cooking oil and other waste fats as feedstock for biodiesel. Biodiesel is currently produced from soy oil in the country, and is a major use for the oil that is suffering from low prices globally and from trade barriers on biodiesel exports. Though the idea behind the law is to help reduce pollution from dumping of UCO, the additional supply of biodiesel may be difficult to market and further weight on soy oil prices.
