House gaining support to limit ethanol blending despite record RFS for 2017

November 23, 2016 |

In Washington, as the Environmental Protection Agency boosts its ethanol blending mandate for 2017 to a record high of more than 18 billion gallons, Renewable Fuel Standard opponents are mounting up in Congress to reform or repeal the legislation in the next session. Already H.R. 5180, that seeks to limit ethanol blending at below the blending wall to 9.7%, has bipartisan support with 117 House members on board including 11 democrats. If the bill doesn’t make it through this year’s session, they are confident to get somewhere with Trump’s support early next year.
