Chinese ethanol imports slip in October due to corn glut but US cargoes loading

November 28, 2016 |

In China, the closing ethanol arbitrage window has been closing due to a glut of corn on the domestic market, helping to cut imports in October to 1,191 cu m, the lowest import figure in 17 months. The majority of imported ethanol was denatured fuel coming from South Africa, while volumes from the US, Japan and the UK were only negligible. Cargoes from the US were heard loaded in October and November so that should help to boost figures in the coming months.
