Cuba may begin to look at biofuels post-Fidel

In Cuba, following the death of Fidel Castro who was a major opponent of biofuels due to his understanding of food versus fuel, the country is starting to look at opportunities to engage its sugarcane industry for ethanol and perhaps second-generation ethanol along with the use of other crops like sweet sorghum. The question of whether a Trump presidency will keep the US from moving forward with easing of the embargo to allow technology transfer is a key one, while the Brazilian sugar industry sees opportunities on the island to expand production.
