Chicago Argo ethanol prices edge towards six-month high thanks to shrinking stocks and exports

December 6, 2016 |

In Illinois, Chicago Argo ethanol is edging close to a six month high at $1.71/gal on Monday thanks to robust exports mixed with falling stocks, down by more than half a million barrels on the week last week. Corn futures prices have rallied recently to $3.4950/bushel on Monday, providing further support to prices. Ethanol exports during November and likely also December averaged about 90,000 barrels per day. With a focus on exports, production slows some to ensure export quality standards which could be helping to ease overall production volumes at the moment.
