Philippines’ sugar regulator says no to more ethanol imports

In the Philippines, the Sugar Regulatory Authority has responded to calls by independent oil companies to increase ethanol imports saying that the policy’s intention is to boost consumption of local ethanol and support the local ethanol industry. The oil industry has been complaining over rising pump prices that are detracting drivers. Two more ethanol distilleries are expected to come online next year, helping to boost domestic supply of the E10 mandate to more than 50%.
