Three-year Cambodian trial over alleged biodiesel fraud coming to a close

In Cambodia, the three-year-long trial of a UK businessman accused of fraud over a biodiesel project is finally nearing its close with attorneys making closing arguments this week. From fake permits to shorting more than 17,000 farmers meant to grow jatropha for the project, four officials, a military general and the company’s attorney are being tried for a litany of charges related to the failed launch of the project. The UK businessman claims that he wasn’t aware of the permits were fake.
