Thai ethanol producers team with cassava producers to establish market stability

In Thailand, the Thai Ethanol Manufacturing Association and the Confederation of Tapioca Farmers will sign an agreement on December 23 establishing a price for set cassava against a commitment to purchase 10,000 metric tons of cassava per day. Farmers will guarantee a minimum of 25% starch content in the cassava sold to ethanol producers. With the sector able to purchase 2.5 million tons of cassava per year, the agreement is meant to establish before the next harvest begins terms that will support farmers so they boost production enough to supply industrial demand.
