November RIN production sees cellulosic ethanol still falling behind

December 26, 2016 |

In Washington, the Energy Information Administration said 16.46 million D3 cellulosic biofuel RINs were generated in November but the vast majority continues to be generated from bio-CNG and bio-LNG. Cellulosic ethanol production remains limited, with only 3.3 million D3 RINs have been generated for ethanol for the year through November out of the total 159.35 million D3 RINs generated. Nearly 1.66 billion RINs were generated during November, 1.24 billion of which were D6s. About 77,454 D7 cellulosic RINs were generated, mostly for cellulosic heating oil and mostly imported.
