Zaragoza supporting growth of UCO biodiesel program

December 26, 2016 |

In Spain, despite the European Commission’s recent policy shift away from promoting UCO biodiesel, the city of Zaragoza is helping to expand a project led by a local association supporting the integration of the disabled into the labor force through UCO collection and processing into biodiesel. The association has already created 26 jobs collecting UCO from 102 collection points around the area but with the support of the local government another 120 will be installed, helping the association to collect as much as half a million liters of UCO. The project began in 2003 but in 2015 just 129,431 liters were collected.
