In Minnesota, Bushmills Ethanol plans to expand ethanol production by more than 50% to 100 million gallons per year from the current 65 million gallons. As a result, corn consumption will rise to 38.5 million bushels from 25 million bushels now. Four new 730,000 gallons fermenters along with more storage will accompany the expansion. A public comment period on the state’s pollution control agency’s environmental assessment worksheet that suggests whether a more detailed environmental review is required is open until February 8.
