DOE jobs report says biofuels provides about 9% of energy jobs nationally

January 17, 2017 |

In Washington, the Department of Energy released its annual energy jobs report, showing corn ethanol employment represents about three percent of the nation’s Fuels workforce, accounting for 28,613 jobs while other ethanol and non-woody biomass including biodiesel equates to 23,088 jobs, another 2 percent of the Fuels workforce. Then woody biomass fuel for energy and cellulosic biofuels support another 30,458 jobs across the nation, again about three percent of the Fuels workforce.

Though compared to national averages the biofuels industry is much less culturally diverse with a poor gender balance, it scores significantly higher on veteran employment and interestingly lower union membership.
