Ghana’s first ethanol producer diversifying and seeking more cassava

In Ghana, the country’s only ethanol producer—Caltech—has produced 150,000 liters of ethanol from cassava since starting up the 3 million liter per year facility in August. The company is also expanding into biogas, liquefied carbon dioxide and electricity production. Though the company is already securing cassava from nearby farms in the Volta region, it is calling for more farmers to boost production in line with government policies to support the development of agricultural processing supply chains.
