Total RIN generation for 2016 nearly reached 15.15 billion

In Washington, the Environmental Protection Agency said nearly 16.84 million cellulosic RINs were generated in December, bringing the annual total to nearly 176.8 million. Of those, about 3.81 million RINs were generated from ethanol while the remainder was renewable CNG and renewable LNG. The total for all RINs generated in 2016 was almost 15.15 billion with 1.84 billion RINs produced in December. No D7 RINs were produced in December and no domestic D7 RINs were produced during the entire year, with less than a half million RINs produced from imported renewable heating oil.
