Glencore on the hunt for a third Brazilian mill

January 25, 2017 |

In Brazil, Glencore is looking to expand its footprint in the country beyond its current two sugar mills, one of which it is taking control of in the next couple of days. The third mill could potentially be a partnership with Odebrecht Agroindustrial for the Alcidia mill in the southwestern part of Sao Paulo. Odebrecht Agroindustrial owns nine sugar mills producing ethanol in the country. As both companies declined to comment, speculation is open as to whether a third mill for Glencore could be one other than Alcidia.
