US District Court halts demolition of mothballed Maine mill meant for a future biofuel plant

In Maine, EMEP LLC has successfully won a temporary restraining order from the U.S. District Court of Portland to stop the demolition of the former Great Northern Paper Co. mill where the company has invested significant amount of money to sort out permitting in order to develop a biofuel facility at the mothballed facility. The company has been in negotiations with the facility’s owner for its purchase and claims breach of contract by them following a signed Letter of Intent for the property for $1.75 million.
