Herradura to turn agave waste into biopower

March 6, 2017 |

In Mexico, following an investment in biogas production from stillage to provide 20% of its energy needs, Herradura is now developing a project to produce another 30% of its energy through the use of waste agave. The company produces 150 metric tons of waste biomass per day that will be dried and then used in large boilers to provide steam to the plant. Herradura says it has been difficult finding large enough equipment to dry and produce power from the waste but it expects to have the project online by the end of the year.
