Australian Paper teaming with CSIRO on major lignin biorefinery

In Australia, Australian Paper is teaming with CSIRO to bolt on bio-manufacturing technologies to utilize lignin removed from pulp production to make paper. The company already has a 50MW biomass power plant that will serve as the cornerstone of the project that is expected to attract over A$100 million in investment over two phases and create thousands of jobs. Plans are to produce biofuel for transportation as well as aviation all the way through bioplastics.
