Proposed Welsh gasification plant under fire

March 30, 2017 |

In the UK, public hearings for Egnedol’s proposed wood chip-based pyrolysis and gasification unit at the former RNAD and Gulf oil refinery sites near Blackbridge have identified concerns from the community as well as environmental activists. Some claim the facility’s proposed technologies have not been proven and pose a health and safety risk due to its proximity to an LNG facility while others doubt the project could provide the 500 jobs promised by the investment. The feedstock would be brought in by ship to a jetty that needs to be repaired. Some community members are concerned about additional traffic, especially during construction.
